1987 “Super 60” Calibration

This calibration is based off of a very early (circa 2002) disassembly of the stock 1987 Turbo II software (not the MP Super 60).  My 1987 Shelby CSX is currently using this calibration.  It has been modified to use the Super 60 3 bar MAP sensor and +40% fuel injectors while still making use of closed loop and other features of the stock cal.  The spark curves were left stock.  It is tuned reasonably well, but it’s not perfect.  It has worked well for me for the past few years, however I don’t plan to make any new revisions of it.  Use at your own risk!

Version 1.4

by on Sep.28, 2004, under 1987 Super 60

09/28/04: Version 1.4 – had some mechanical issues that had me chasing my tail. Ended up undoing a lot of changes and putting them back.  The accumilated changes include an unscaled AISBaroCompensation table, some changes to the AIS off idle position, changed all the boost tables to 21psi, took some fuel out of the fuel baseline, added some fuel to cold start table C, grabbed the non-MP no throttle fuel table and fine-tuned it to reduce exhaust popping and funny behavior in high vacuum, slight tweaks to starting fuel, and kicked the whole PEFTBL up by 10%.

Version 1.3

by on Jun.29, 2004, under 1987 Super 60

06/29/04: Version 1.3 – added some advance on the in the mid and top end and backed-off on the high-boost advance.  Put a tad more fuel in the PEFTBL.

Version 1.2

by on May.25, 2004, under 1987 Super 60

05/25/04: Version 1.2 – extended the cold side of a fuel enrichment curve a bit further, as it seemed like it still wasn’t rich enough around 80^F.  Also the RetardFactorFromBarometericPressure was scaled up again to try to cover the 0-2 psi range with a bit more spark.

Version 1.1

by on Apr.30, 2004, under 1987 Super 60

04/30/04: Version 1.1 – extended the cold side of a fuel enrichment curve to hopefully address a slight instability I noticed during “cool” startup.  It seemed like it wasn’t rich enough long enough.

Version 1.0

by on Nov.07, 2003, under 1987 Super 60

11/07/03: Version 1.0 – this calibration is based off of v0.6, but now contains the first of the spark curve adjustments.  For starters, I simply used the curves from the 1987 Mopar Performance Turbo II and CSX Stage II calibrations (they are the same).  From this point forward, I will be adding advance to eek out more performance from my CSX motor.  Since I have reduced compression with a head shim, I don’t recommend using any calibrations beyond this point with a stock motor.

Version 0.6

by on Nov.07, 2003, under 1987 Super 60

11/07/03: Version 0.6 – made a slight adjustment to the partial throttle curve to try to address what seemed like a lean spot.  It seemed to take care of it.  This calibration seems now to get similar gas mileage to the stock calibration.

Version 0.5

by on Oct.27, 2003, under 1987 Super 60

10/27/03: Version 0.5 – tweaked the cold start tables, AIS tables, and other fuel tables.  The engine starts and idles fine, even when cold.  Decel mixture is good.  Fuel mileage is better than the ND cal was, though still below stock.

Version 0.4

by on Oct.16, 2003, under 1987 Super 60

10/16/03: Version 0.4 – richened-up the part throttle curve at high boost levels and leaned the no-throttle curve some.  Also adjusted the cold-start enrichment curve down a bit.  The mixture looks pretty good for me.  The only outstanding issue is an idle surge when coming to a stop when the engine is cold.

Version 0.3

by on Oct.15, 2003, under 1987 Super 60

10/15/03: Version 0.3 – reapplied the v0.2 changes to the real stock 1987 Turbo II calibration and tuned for 55psi of fuel.  I ended up with different curves that seem to be too rich during no-thottle decel and lean at part throttle over 12psi of boost.  Idle mixture is good, as is cruise and WOT.

Version 0.2

by on Oct.13, 2003, under 1987 Super 60

10/13/03: Version 0.2 – richened up the top end a little, but may be too lean for you, as I forgot that my fuel pressure is 60psi right now.  Gas mileage seems to be good and it gets enough fuel all the way to 18psi or so, even at part throttle.
